Infographics are used to communicate complex ideas in a visually pleasing, yet simple to understand manner.
Evaluation, create an Infographic that communicates the information you want to convey about either Thales, Pre-Socratic philosopher, or Socrates.
Imagine you are a recruiter for his school or his philosophy. Present some historical information about your philosopher, but also present information about theories you find interesting, accomplishments, snippets of any writing. Sell me on this philosopher. Present reasons I would want to have this philosopher as my teacher.
This satisfies Course Objective 1.
When creating your infographic, please consider the following:
- Use an Infographic program such as Piktochart, Visme, MS Publisher, or MS PowerPoint. For many of these, you will need an account for them to work properly (they will still be free). Do not pay for an account.
- Here is an infographic on how to use Piktochart
- Use copyright-free images (included in the Infographic program used).
- Include text to explain your argument and describe your position.
- Include data to support your argument.
- Include at least two sources in the Infographic and include both references at the bottom AND citations on the infographic where the referenced material was used.
- Post as either a PDF or a working link. Be sure the link works as I cannot grade what I cannot open.
- Have fun with this assignment and be creative!
- If you need an alternative format, please contact your instructor immediately.
- For grading expectations, please see the Infographic rubric.

Thesis statement: Divorce is harmful to society because it affects both parents and children, and therefore, leaders and community members should collaborate to end the high rate of divorce worldwide. II. Overview A. The divorce rate has been 1.2 million cases every year since 1970, which is unhealthy for society (Coates, 2017). B. In most divorce cases, some key issues that the courts settle include children’s custody and property ownership. C. If the divorce ruling is against one parent, that parent may suffer socially and psychologically. D. Children whose parents are divorced may experience disruption in their social and academic life. BODY I. Divorce may impact parents or divorcees negatively. A. Kreyenfeld & Trappe (2020) found that lone parents who assume children’s custody after divorce have a higher risk of poverty. 3 B. Divorced fathers (who did not assume children’s custody) have reduced psychological well-being because they have limited access to their children (Kreyenfeld & Trappe, 2020). II. Divorce has negative impacts on children of divorced parents. A. Short-term effects of divorce on children include poor education, depression, and inadequate social support (Demir-Dagdas et al., 2018). B. Also, the divorce process may subject children to unhealthy sex life and false perception about marriage. C. For example, studies show that children of divorcees are at a higher risk of teenage pregnancies (Demir-Dagdas et al., 2018). III. It is possible to reduce the negative impacts of divorce through better alternatives and a supportive environment. A. According to Gasse & Mortelmans (2020), social support from family members and friends can reduce economic and psychological struggles among divorced parents by helping them to balance single-parent responsibilities and work. B. To avoid enmity among the divorcees, collaborative divorce is the best alternative. C. Collaborative divorce allows divorcees to discuss issues with lawyers and other professionals and find a solution that favors both sides (Herman, 2019). 4 CONCLUSION I. Adults may experience economic and psychological problems, while children may suffer mental health problems such as depression after divorce. II. Community leaders can come together and educate people on how to implement collaborative divorce approaches and social support programs to reduce the harmful effects of divorce on children and parents. III. Despite the increasing divorce rate, it is possible to restore happiness in society by viewing divorce as a peaceful conflict resolution mechanism rather than a competition for children’s custody and property ownership. ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY Coates, B. A. (2017). Divorce with Decency: The Complete How-To Handbook and Survivor’s Guide to the Legal, Emotional, Economic, and Social Issues. University of Hawaii Press. This source explains how courts settle divorce cases. The author states the divorce statistics before arguing about the importance of handling divorce decently. The main argument presented in this source is that people should not view divorce as a battle but as an opportunity for divorcees to agree on how to raise their children and manage properties after a divorce. This source is helpful because it provides statistical information about divorce and introduces the concept of the collaborative divorce approach. 5 Kreyenfeld, M., & Trappe, H. (2020). Parental life courses after separation and divorce in Europe. Springer Nature. Kreyenfeld & Trappe (2020) reveal the impacts of divorce on parents by presenting the social, psychological, and economic implications of divorce. For instance, mothers who take care of children after divorce experience more economic hardships than fathers. Also, in most cases, fathers are distanced from their children after divorce, subjecting them to psychological problems. This source is crucial in this paper because it identifies areas where divorce is harmful to divorcees. Demir-Dagdas, T., Isik-Ercan, Z., Intepe-Tingir, S., & Cava-Tadik, Y. (2018). Parental divorce and children from diverse backgrounds: Multidisciplinary perspectives on mental health, parent-child relationships, and educational experiences. Journal of Divorce & Remarriage, 59(6), 469-485. The author investigated how divorce affects children and its implication in society. The most significant finding is that divorce disrupts families, making it hard for children to attend school or get enough support. The author holds that divorce will always lead to depression among children due to reduced support. This article aims to warn parents against divorce to avoid exposing children to behavioral problems that lead to adverse situations such as teen pregnancies. The article is helpful because it contributes to the thesis statement by informing how divorce can harm children. 6 Herman, G. (2019). The Role of a Family Law Attorney in Settlement Negotiations. Family Law Quarterly, 53(2). Herman (2019) explains that the traditional divorce process increases conflicts among divorcees due to litigation threats. The author found that individuals may feel neglected when the court issues a divorce ruling against their wishes. Hence, the article introduces the concept of collaborative divorce, where lawyers, therapists, and financial experts help divorcees to reach a favorable agreement. This article offers valuable information about addressing the negative impacts of divorce through a collaborative approach. Hence, it is helpful in this research. Gasse, D. V., & Mortelmans, D. (2020). Social support in the process of household reorganization after divorce. Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, 37(6), 1927-1944. The author identifies problems associated with divorce, especially among women. For example, they found that divorced mothers may struggle to start a new family as a single parent. As a result, the article recommends social support as a solution to such divorce issues. Family members and friends can help lone mothers secure employment and establish a family through social support. This source will help to complete this paper because, by studying this article, one gets information about addressing the impacts of divorce through the social network. 7 References Coates, B. A. For this assignment, write a persuasive letter to someone in your local area who cares about diplomacy and global events to bring attention to something
Description
For this assignment, write a persuasive letter to someone in your local area who cares about diplomacy and global events to bring attention to something important that you’ve discovered about IR during our eight weeks of class. It could be a businessperson, your Major or Governor, or even someone who is running an NGO in your town or state. Be creative. Think about what has made you wonder, “whaaaat?” during the course and provide a substantiated solution to the problem. Choose a topic that is relevant to this course. (A hot-button political issue might be enticing, but consider whether it’s actually related to international relations).
You don’t need to provide your return address for the assignment, but you’ll need to include it if you decide to send your letter. Provide the name, position, and mailing address of the person you have selected to write. Then write a four-paragraph (no more than two double-spaced pages, including references) letter using this format:
Paragraph 1: introduce yourself and explain the problem;
Paragraph 2: explain the relevant history of the problem (cite your sources);
Paragraph 3: explain any international relations concepts and theories related to the problem (cite your sources and relate to course readings); and,
Paragraph 4: propose possible solutions and explain what you want this person to do (cite your sources). To make your letter actionable and effective, think about what the reader can do right away to make change. For example, if your recommendation is for a governor to work with an NGO, name a specific NGO that the governor can call.
Your letter should have a professional tone and look and follow standard letter format. Add legitimacy to your claims by providing citations using the Chicago 16th Author-Date style and include a list of your references (required). Use 12 pt. font Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. Include your last name in your file name and upload your work in a .doc or .docx file by Sunday of week 8. A template is attached for your convenience. See also https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/653/01/
It is up to you whether or not you send the letter, but you are encouraged to do so. Civic engagement is crucial in democratic societies.

Module 1: Introduction to Cybersecurity
What is Cybersecurity? Cybersecurity involves practices, technologies, and processes designed to protect digital systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, attack, damage, or theft. This includes securing hardware, software, and data from various threats such as hacking, data breaches, and malware.
-
Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability (CIA Triad): These are the core principles that drive cybersecurity practices. Confidentiality ensures data is kept private, integrity guarantees data is accurate and untampered with, and availability ensures data and systems are accessible when needed.
Types of Cyber Attacks Cyber threats can come in many forms, and each type of attack has a unique method of breaching systems:
-
Phishing: Fraudulent attempts to acquire sensitive information (e.g., usernames, passwords) by impersonating trustworthy entities, often via email or fake websites.
-
Ransomware: Malicious software that encrypts the victim’s files, with the attacker demanding payment to decrypt them.
