Please Help Thought First One 7 Spaces Read 1 0 0 0 1 S 1 Space Magnitude Exponent 1 Secon Q43835042

Please help. I thought for the first one the 7 spaces read + – 10 0 0 1 because when there’s only 1 space for the magnitude of theexponent it has to be 1.

For the second problem I put + + 1 9 9 9 9 because we want tohave the largest exponent. Can you explain where I am wrong andwhat the 7 spaces would look like?

1.) For a hypothetical 7-bit decimal (base-10) computer whichuses 1 bit for sign of exponent, 1 bit for magnitude of exponent, 1bit for sign of mantissa and 4 bits for magnitude of mantissa, determine the smallest positive number that can berepresented

10-13

0

10-10

0.0001×10-9

2.) For a hypothetical 7-bit decimal (base-10)computer which uses 1 bit for sign of exponent, 1 bit for magnitudeof exponent, 1 bit for sign of mantissa and 4 bits for magnitude ofmantissa, the magnitude of the largest number thatcan be represented is:

9999999

9999000

999900000

9999000000000

0.9999000
