Grade Point Scale: Letter grades have a grade point assigned that is used to calculate your GPA (Grade Point Average). The following table explains and defines Dalhousie’s grading system and shows the GPA value that corresponds with each letter grade. Grade Grade Point Value Definition Grade Percentage 90-100% 4.30 Excellent ه 4.00 85-89% ا 3.70 3.30 80-84% 77-79% 3.00 73-76% Good 2.70 2.30 70-72% 65-69% بادان ب ته ه 200 60-64% Satisfactory 1.70 1.00 0.00 Neutral and no credit obtained Neutral and no credit obtained 55-59% 50-54% 0-49% Marginal Pass Inadequate Withdrew after deadline Compassionate reasons, illness w VILL ** Note that neither W nor ILL grades have an associated grade point value. These do not count towards your term or cumulative GPAs. In this problem, you will first receive a string identifying the semester followed by the number of courses that were taken during that semester. On the remaining lines, you will receive course name and letter grade (of those listed in the Grade Point Scale above) separated by a comma, to be used in computing the grade point average (GPA) for the semester. To do this, you must first convert each grade letter to the appropriate grade point value. You will disregard all grades that are of neutral value (ie. W and ILL grades). You will then find the average of those grade point values. Input • Semester name • Number of courses taken that semester • The remaining lines contain information for each course taken that semester in the following format: o course code followed by grade letter obtained, each separated by a comma Processing 1 Convert each letter grade to the appropriate grade point value • Disregard any neutral grade letters (eg. W or ILL grades) 2. Find the average of those values rounded to two decimal places 3.
